“Das Blaue vom Himmel” ist der Titel eines Fotoessays des Fotografen Florian Fischer über die Tropical Islands in Brandenburg. Der größte tropische Freizeitpark Europas liegt auf dem Gelände eines ehemaligen russischen Luftwaffenstützpunktes in der Spreewaldregion, umgeben von verwahrlosten Hangars und Kasernengebäuden. Ein Energieaufwand vergleichbar mit dem einer durchschnittlichen Kleinstadt ist vonnöten, um in der Betonhalle ganzjährig tropische Temparaturen herrschen zu lassen. Florian Fischer stellt in seinen Fotos einen schönen Kontrast zwischen der megalomanischen Kitschlandschaft innerhalb und der tristen, an den kalten Krieg erinnernden Militärbrache außerhalb der Tropical Islands her.

“Das Blaue vom Himmel” is the title of a photo essay about the Tropical Islands by German photographer Florian Fischer. The biggest tropical theme park in Europe is located on the grounds of a former Russian airbase in the Spreewald region in Brandenburg, surrounded by run-down hangars and barracks. The amount of energy needed to enable year-round tropical temperatures inside the huge concrete hall equals the energy consumption of an average small town. Florian Fischer creates a nice contrast between the megalomaniac kitsch landscape within and the dreary cold war era military wasteland outside the Tropical Islands.
